Lester,

It is OK to list.    She is a 30  year old boat  that needed upgrading.   the doyle sails cost me about  5k each.   new  120 percent jib and  new mainsail with two battens

I HAD INSOUCIANCE' MAINSAIL ALTERED : a. ROACH CUT OFF IN ORDER TO REDUCE WEATHER HELM AND b. BATTEN POCKETS REMOVED BECAUSE WITHOUT PROPER CARS AT THE MAST THE SAIL HANGS UP  AND THE SAIL IS HARD TOGET DOWN...

They are guranteed 5 years.    I am saving cosmetics for last.   I might just repaint the boat one color myself  when it is on the hard.   No need for fancy spray job,  just roll on with a roller.

USE EPOXY TWO-PART PAINT.

The  anchor chain is stored in the nose now.  Not under the floor where it was hard to get.

INSOUCIANCE HAS LONG HEAVY CHAIN. 120' WAS KEPT IN THE BOW BECAUSE MOST ANCHORING IS IN LESS THAN 20'. THE REST WAS STORED AFT NEAR THE MAST TO TRIM THE BOAT AND PREVENT WEATHER HELM.

The windlass works now,

SEND ME PICK OF WINDLASS.

I bypassed the switch and the solenoid  so  just a direct connection to the battery for more fool proof operation.

SEND ME PICS OF THE SETUP, ON DECK AND BELOW.

Simplify simiplify simpilfy is the  new  way of doing things.

GOOD LUCK! HAH. HAH.

so out goes the  fridge compressor.

OKAY. IT WAS NOT WORKING, BUT REPLACE IT WITH ONE ABOVE THE WATERLINE. YOUR REEFER IS ONE OF THE BEST.

Out goes the  washing machine.

GOOD IDEA. SEND ME A PICTURE. WHAT GOES IN ITS PLACE, MORE STORAGE SPACE?

Out goes the  propane tank  under the seat.   There is no  place to refill tank  so I just use  5 gallon portable  lpg  container.

CONNECTED TO THE STOVE? SEND ME A PIC.

I also want to add more comfortable beds.  at least two big beds in the salon.   one big bed in the  v berth,  and  one big bed in the pilot house.   so a crew of 4 can have full size beds.     My plan is to use the boat in the s.f. bay and delta  puttering around the delta in the summer months.  and venturing out to the north bay and south bay to sail it.

I WISH I HAD SAILED THE DELTA

I am trying to find a live aboard slip  near san francisco.   Perhaps the presidio yacht harbor  under the golden gate bridge.   horseshoe cove marina.   they have a club there with  live music on weekends.

CHECK CRAIGSLIST FOR SLIPS AT PIER 39 FOR SALE.

I stopped there on my way out the gate.  and  stayed at their guest dock one nite.     I can ride bicycle from there to my home in san francisco. On the other side of the bridge.

IN THE MARINA? DID YOU INHERIT THE HOUSE IN THE MARINA?

I have an electric bike which can make that trip in about 25 minutes door to door.  and  since it is a bike,  it pays no toll.    It has  750 watt motor to help me up the hills.

NICE! AND YOU CAN CARRY THE BIKE ABOARD INSOUCIANCE.

Some people just anchor out in that cove.  Coast guard base is right there for security.   and lots of parking too.

Companionway  hatch  replaced by  redwood boards,  guillotine style, instead of  flimsy doors,  quarter inch thick.       Composting  sawdust toilet  takes care of  number two,.pee goes over the side, toilet paper  goes in garbage.   I have tested this system in my shed in Oakland.   it works.     Garbage can be incinerated.  I may add a  fireplace and vent the chimney out the hatch in front.

Asking price is $52,000  and location is Napa Marina, CA..     The photos  you had of your boat before is pretty much the same.   Boat has not changed colors or anything.    Rigging, and thru hulls and mechanicals  all good.    Brand new  doyle sail.  for the jib 120 percent  for  single handed sailing.  roller furling on that.    Sail guranteed for 5 years.    engine is 23hp volvo with sail drive.   Has been all re wired  to start with the start button.  not the hot wire.   New LED  lighting system on the mast,  installed by  Berkeley Marine,  so  to maintain visibility at night.  No radar.   Has  self steering rig for  single handed sailing.   and  wheel steering.   It is ready to go.  Waiting for new owner.    I need a smaller boat.  maybe  30 foot  with  cat boat rig and shallow draft.   for bay sailing only.   Will consider a trade to smaller boat  30 foot  located in san francisco bay marina.  preferably east bay.      or on a trailer.  etc.     I will do bay and delta sailing only.  Not coastal cruising which demands a two man crew.   Wont go south, as planned.

I probably wont haul out this year; Hull looks ok.  The bottom was painted two years ago.   Cleaning the bottom can be done  at the berth, where it is now.  It is on  A dock in Moss Landing, far down the  walkway and between two Vietnamese fishing boats.

It is possible to buy a salmon/crab liccense and the person can fish and sell your catch on the dock. People come on weekends to buy crab. If I stay here I may go this route..

The new 120 percent jib sail cost me 5000 dollars and was custom made at Doyle  sailmakers.  guaranteed for  5 years.   It is down below in a bag in the forward compartment. The boat has roller furling rig, as you know. The thru hulls are all new bronze, made by Cree himself, at the Berkeley Marina Boatyard..  The engine was gone over and the exhaust manifold rebuilt by Carl of Berkeley Marine. Insouciance has a self steering rig, a Monitor. I will redo the lifelines as vandals damaged them.

In the galley, I added a swinging one burner propane stove.

In the head compartment I upgraded to a composting toilet, which uses sawdust .

In the salon I extended one pilot berth to 36 inches wide to have more comfort for me.

In the pilothouse I cut out the dinette and made a narrow berth instead.. Am replacing the companionway door with  redwood slats  to make it  harder to break into. The thin doors offered little resistance to the police who broke in to investigate, for no damn good reason. They cut the lock and broke the door.

The boat survived one year in rough anchor-out conditions due to El Nino at Santa Cruz Beach. The rigging  had been replaced  by Butler Rigging at the Berkeley yard so the mast held up.  Keel stepped mast, etc. Boat was very forgiving despite being sailed at the hands of amateurs, me and Paz.. We made it to Santa Cruz under rough conditions with no worries, a tribute to the Corbin boat design and builder.
